Excerpt: The book “The Big Jump Into Entrepreneurship” by Dr. Ramesh Ramachandra, Founder and CEO of Talent Leadership Crucible (TLC)
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented impacts on a global scale, particularly affecting economic activities and public health. The pandemic has opened the eyes of businesses across continents. They realized that their business models were overly dependent on a favorable, understandable, and predictable environment.
By pivoting their business operations through ‘repurposing’ and ‘redirecting’ existing knowledge, skills, personnel, and relationships to emerging needs, some entrepreneurs and startups have gained advantages during this period.
For instance, when all cinemas and theaters had to close for months, BookMyShow – a giant in the ticketing sector – decided to support online events and help artists sell tickets online.
Starting food and grocery delivery during the pandemic, while always adhering to contactless policies, giants in the delivery sector like Swiggy, Zomato, Grab, and Lalamove regularly sanitized their bags and other high-contact items. Instead of having to cease operations, their drivers were rigorously trained to comply with COVID-19 preventive measures.”
