UNEMPLOYED! WHY NOT CREATE YOUR OWN CAREER?

Excerpt: The book “The Big Jump Into Entrepreneurship” by Dr. Ramesh Ramachandra, Founder and CEO of Talent Leadership Crucible (TLC)

An entrepreneur is defined as someone who manages risks to create value. It involves them organizing and managing numerous activities to generate value.

Exploring how this happens brings us back to the question “Why”. Sometimes, entrepreneurship arises from a need. In developing countries, people organize money-making activities simply because they have no jobs.

For example, in the popular Netflix series “Street Food: Asia,” Florencia Escabas from the coastal city of Cebu in the Philippines created a famous sea eel soup that turned his entire seaside village into a food paradise.

He did this out of a need to make money from the sea eels caught by him and other fishermen after each fishing trip. Sea eels generally don’t sell for much, so Escabas and his wife came up with a sea eel soup that is believed to have aphrodisiac effects and cannot be found anywhere else.

Since then, Filipinos and other tourists from around the world have flocked here to enjoy this exotic soup. The entire village has economically benefited from Escabas’s business.

It’s interesting how entrepreneurship has naturally occurred but has had a ripple effect on the entire community.

Take the first small steps to solve small problems on the journey to becoming an entrepreneur. And who knows, those small steps may become longer and have a more profound impact, not only on yourself but also on the community!
